UNLV Highlights
While a Graduate Assistant at UNLV, David established the Entertainment Bookings facet for the Jazz Studies area, booking an unprecedented 50 engagements for the program over 2 years. This facet draws upon the students to perform with any of the 9 jazz combos at venues around the UNLV campus, Las Vegas, Hotels, and corporate functions. The Entertainment Bookings has created a valuable professional paid performance environment for students while in turn generating funds for the Jazz Studies Program at UNLV. In February 2004, David along with director of Jazz Studies David Loeb, also created another performance opportunity for UNLV jazz students at a local coffee house, "Rejavanate" that has evolved into a weekly "Thursday Jazz Night Jam" which fulfills partial performance requirements towards the undergraduate jazz degree program.
As a faculty member, in addition to teaching, David performs with the Faculty Jazz Sextet contributing original compositions and arrangements. Perrico has produced 3 CD recordings on the TNC Record Label for UNLV that feature the Jazz Ensemble 1 and Contemporary Ensemble from 2004-2007 conducted by David Loeb and Bruce Paulson. Perrico appears on 2 of the 3 recordings that highlight his lead & jazz playing, conducting, and original compositions. Under Perrico's direction, this project and future projects will collaborate with the UNLV recording studio classes to provide students the opportunity and hands on experience to produce a CD project from concept to completion.
