A cadre of younger musicians were featured throughout the performance. When Morroe was not playing, the part of the lead trombone was filled with the ultra-smooth styling of Steve Suter, on leave from the New Orleans Symphony. Local boy Matt Johnson was a standout on alto sax, as were his fellow sax players, lead tenor Jason Anderson and alto Jeff Taylor. Taylor also did double duty on clarinet, and blew as hot a licorice stick as Benny Goodman used to. Also featured was strumpeter David Perrico, who lead an amazing swing version of "Flight of the Bumblebees." -- Read More
